A "rambling newsletter instead" 😂. I appreciate you and your thoughtful, fresh rambles Katie.
I listened to Search Engine's podcast interview recently with Ezra Klein, where he said that as a culture we're not just consuming social media, but we're becoming social media. Social Media is where I feel like nuance and humanization goes to die. And so I hope it becomes more popular, rather than unpopular, to not post. I expect we're doing much more for ourselves and the world if the time spent to write a social media post, and react to likes and comments, is spent connecting, supporting, and giving in ways that fill our cup and the cups of others.
Better in a newsletter than on a cheap social media platform at least, I think? Haha! Spencer I will forever feel like we're star-crossed amigos who would spend so much damn time together over cute little beverages talking about the world and unfolding our lived experiences together. <3 Wish we could share a toast for real one day.
This is so in alignment with how I’ve been feeling lately. I have gone down that cycle of insta-advocacy burnout too, and have been trying to re-learn how to channel my energy in the most effective ways. It’s a sticky and tense process of bouncing back and forth, over- and under-correcting to achieve what never quite feels like the “perfect” balance -- but it’s nice to hear that I’m not the only one figuring this out. Thanks for sharing 💛
Ooh I feel this: "a sticky and tense process of bouncing back and forth, over- and under-correcting," I am definitely doing a lot of both and it's been very intense and overwhelming and underwhelming all at the same time. <3 Glad we're in it together Jac.

This seriously made my day. We have GOT to make this happen. We need to forage or go crazy at a farmers' market to make the cutest little bevvys.
Have definitely felt that burnout, so many great points here, thanks for sharing. 🙏
So poignant and worth sharing with everyone I know who's burning themselves out online. Thank you so much for this.
